How To Get
Started...
Homeschooling
is a commitment to your children and a
serious decision that should be made by
both parents. Provide a strong
foundation for your homeschool by
prayerfully considering your decision to
be responsible for your child’s
education. As a parent, you are
uniquely equipped to teach your child.
You are the person who knows the most
about your child’s learning styles and
special needs because you have been
working with and learning about your
child since birth.
In order to homeschool,
You will need
to begin by researching about
homeschooling
and
planning for your school. Read some of
the many excellent books that have been
written about homeschooling, visit
homeschool websites and try to locate
other homeschooling families or join a
local support group. All these
activities will assist you in learning
about homeschooling and how to get
started.
You need to be
familiar with the law.
Currently, Indiana law has very few
requirements: Children must attend
school 180 days, parents must keep
attendance records, and children must
start school no later than age 7.
Plan your
school calendar in a way that fits your
family best.
You may choose to have year round
school, follow the traditional school
calendar, or develop a schedule that
works for you.
